I like to paint en plein air where possible and the weather permits but when that is not possible I work from sketches and photographs in the studio. My inspiration can come from anywhere - a walk in the countryside- a patch of sunlight on the fields - an amazing holiday to foreign parts. The main driver being to reconstruct something of the feeling in that moment whether it is a landscape or still life. I am more and more attracted to bright colours and abstract or semi abstract execution.

My work ranges over many subject areas. Landscapes from near and far, seascapes too from around the country and abroad, still life of flowers, fruit and practically anything that takes my eye. I even can be persuaded to take on a portrait from time to time. I mainly work in oils but have more recently been using acrylic paints also.
