Learn how to paint portraits in the fabulous May Barn studio near Wallingford over a weekend. Working on easels with photographs, we explore planes of the face and large shapes to describe dimension and personality through a series of charcoal sketches. The emphasis is on proportion, understanding of values and the 'big' shapes. In the afternoon, using reference images either supplied by me or your own photo, we start our portrait in Oil or Acrylic (you can choose) using simple tones, exploring colour temperature and loose creative mark making. Full tuition given on your chosen medium. On the Sunday we continue with our portrait, adding more colour, finding focus and developing a style, always with guidance and support. Suitable for all levels, ALL MATERIALS SUPPLIED.
