Artists’ books, Drawing, Painting
Lenny Cornforth's work reflects a subtle duality between surface and colour. In each painting, attention is drawn to how surface affects colour variation. Work is developed through instinctive colour decisions, with an unapologetic attention to the potential of aesthetic form. Recently she has began drawing on shapes within natural landscapes to create evocative pieces about memory and journeys, retracing the well worn footpaths of our landscapes with light and colour.
I am incessantly inspired by the openness and simple 'unfussy' landscapes of our coastlines. To me these open uncluttered spaces are a means of escape and relief where peace and clarity of mind are found. I enjoy finding visual relationships between the changing light and skies of winter and the man-made structures and objects that I find along our most interesting shores.
