Recently my work has become larger and more sculptural. Birds have always had a big influence and recently even more abstract pieces have tended to take on a bird-like form.
I write with clay, exploring our feelings for the landscapes of our lives. Clay-scripted wall plaques and textured porcelain forms create intriguing shadows which move with the light, echoing our hazy, shifting memories of experiences.
My sculptural pieces reflect Nature's rugged and imperfect elements. The clay is pulled and stretched until it wrinkles and cracks. These forms are influenced by studies of tree bark which has become gnarled, distorted and broken with age.
