Koru and Caro Ceramic Artists
Koru Craft: Wendy Chamberlain
My love of nature and the joy of making are the key driving forces behind my work. I hand-build using a variety of clays, often taking inspiration from my beach combing treasures or plant forms. Lots of natural materials are used to create texture and sea-glass is incorporated to add colourful highlights. My work is either burnished and smoke fired, or fired to stoneware; ideal for garden use.
I use a variety of clay making techniques resulting in a diverse range of work that continues to evolve. Inspiration stems from a need to be creative. I enjoy exploring the possibilities of clays and glazes, whilst interpreting the structure of forms both natural and man-made from the various environments I journey through. My current work includes an exploration of natural forms and artefacts synonymous with water.
