Where the sea meets the moon, porcelain, approx 22cm diameter.
Words off the page, porcelain, approx 19cm diameter.
I write with clay, using poetry which expresses a connection to the landscapes of our lives. Our stories travel with us in porcelain scripted 'coracles' and leave their traces in ceramic forms.
Blue Pot with Handle, Ironstone clay, 40cm tall
Hot Spots, Crank clay, 37cm tall
African Pot, Crank clay, 40cm tall
I hand-build pots using coils of clay for large pieces and slabs for smaller items. This year has been very much about searching and experiment - developing ideas for the future.
My current practice focusses on the rugged and imperfect elements of the natural world and my bark sculptures are inspired by the Silver Birch tree. They reflect the distortion of age on the Silver Birch's pure white surface as the outer layers peel away and the texture becomes gnarled and broken. These forms are hand-built by pulling and stretching porcelain clay until it wrinkles and cracks.
