Event 1:  Artists collect their Open Studios 2017 Directory of Artists and publicity materials.

OutlineOpen Studios 2017’s Directory of Artists was launched last Saturday at New Greenham Arts when 112 artists took away their copies to distribute to the public. The directory is packed with information about all the art events taking place from 29 April to 21 May.

You can now pick up your free copy of the 2017 Artists Directory from any participating artist or from the Corn Exchange, Newbury Central Library, Waterstones, Reading and Newbury Town halls, other local shops and tourist outlets in Newbury, Reading and Basingstoke.

Front cover of Open Studios 2017 Directory of ArtistsThis publication contains artists’ statements and their opening times, travel directions, details of exhibitions and workshops taking place, together with a handy location map to help you plan your visits throughout West Berkshire and North Hampshire.

What can you expect from a visit to an artist’s studio? They are all different; they can be purpose-built structures or a shed in the garden, some are front rooms, others professional spaces. Some artists join forces and set up group exhibitions of their latest works. What you can be sure of is that artists welcome visitors looking around and asking questions about materials and processes, ideas and experiments. The range of art disciplines is impressive, from sculpture and ceramics, painting on any medium and all kinds of design.

Don’t delay, get your free copy and start planning your arty weekend visits throughout May!

The Open Studios 2017 website www.open-studios.org.uk went live on Saturday 1 April at 8am. You can view all the information online there. You can also book one of the free hands-on workshops through the website.
