Sculpture, Textiles

Christine Highnett

This year my African safari trip will be my theme for the Open Studio work. I will capture images and moods showing texture, using a range of techniques, some on to my own dyed fabric, using my sewing machine as a drawing tool.

The textile sculptures will combine twisted wood and wire to make an interesting tactile construction all displayed in my studio nestled within my garden.

I will also be displaying at West Berkshire Hospital showing growth & change in my 3D textile sculpture pieces.

WILDLIFE and NATURE have always been my passion.

Growing up in South Africa (and experiencing its wildlife), followed by the opportunity of living on a sub antarctic island for a year, only re-enforced my love for nature.

I am still amazed that there is so much to discover visually every time we go out and explore our beautiful countryside. It is a privilege to observe and share this treasure.
